Mary Ann Bernal “The Briton and the Dane” novels!!!

Today I am excited to be sharing Mary Ann Bernal’s books with you! Mary Ann gives you a glimpse into the days of Viking Warriors and British Kings where intrigue, passion and treachery exist.

“The Briton and the Dane” novels bring to life the tumultuous ninth century when the formidable Vikings terrorized the civilized world. The epic adventure runs the gamut of deception, treachery, intrigue and betrayal during a time of war and conquest in Anglo-Saxon Britain.

Travel back in time to late Ninth Century Anglo-Saxon Britain where Alfred the Great rules with a benevolent hand while the Danish King rules peacefully within the boundaries of the Danelaw. Trade flourishes, and scholars from throughout the civilized world flock to Britannia’s shores to study at the King’s Court School at Winchester.

Enter Concordia, a beautiful noble woman whose family is favored by the king. Vain, willful, and admired, but ambitious and cunning, Concordia is not willing to accept her fate. She is betrothed to the valiant warrior, Brantson, but sees herself as far too young to lay in the bedchamber of an older suitor. She wants to see the wonders of the world, embracing everything in it; preferably, but dangerously, at the side of Thayer, the exotic Saracen who charms King Alfred’s court and ignites her yearning passions.

Concordia manipulates her besotted husband into taking her to Rome, but her ship is captured by bloodthirsty pirates, and the seafarers protecting her are ruthlessly slain to a man. As she awaits her fate in the Moorish captain’s bed, by sheer chance, she discovers that salvation is at hand in the gilded court of a Saracen nobleman.

While awaiting rescue, Concordia finds herself at the center of intrigue, plots, blackmail, betrayal and the vain desires of two egotistical brothers, each willing to die for her favor. Using only feminine cunning, Concordia must defend her honor while plotting her escape as she awaits deliverance, somewhere inside steamy, unconquered Muslim Hispania.

King Alfred the Great has thwarted the Viking threat against his kingdom of Wessex. Signing a treaty with the formidable Danish King Guthrum, he succeeds in pushing the heathen army back to the rolling fens of East Anglia.

An uneasy peace holds sway: The King establishes a standing army under Lord Richard, who takes command of the citadel at Wareham.

Richard and his army are accompanied by his daughter, Gwyneth, an impetuous and reckless young woman – at once striking, intellectually gifted, but dangerously vain and imprudent.

While Richard broods on the Viking threat, Gwyneth falls in love with an enemy prince - only to discover that she has been betrothed to a Saxon warrior twice her age.

Refusing to countenance her grim fate, she flees the fortress, but is soon kidnapped by a Viking warrior and taken to the camp of King Guthrum while Saxon search parties scour the land.

In captivity, a hostage to fortune, and the focus of political intrigue, Gwyneth is submerged in a world of expediency, betrayal and black treachery. Slowly, she realizes the truth is suspect, nothing is what it appears and her reality cannot be trusted.

And all the time, against this background, she desires nothing more than to be reunited with her dashing Danish prince.

The Briton and the Dane novels bring to life the tumultuous ninth century when the formidable Vikings terrorized the civilized world. The epic adventure runs the gamut of deception, treachery, intrigue and betrayal during a time of war and conquest in Anglo-Saxon Britain.

Two years have passed since Alfred the Great successfully defeated Guthrum, King of the Vikings.

The fair land of England is at peace. That is, until the harmony is threatened by Guthrum’s angry, vengeful, illegitimate son, Rigr, who is hell-bent on usurping his father’s throne.

Rigr demands his Birthright – an acknowledgement that he is the sole heir to the Danelaw, but his father refuses his claim. Rigr assembles his army; a motley, but formidable, cohort of disenchanted warriors.

Fearsome Guthrum, ruler of everything from Kent to Northumbria, is made aware of the threat and conjures his forces, meeting the rebellious host on the field at Thetford.

Thousands upon thousands of bloodthirsty warriors confront each other on the sunlit, windless plains of East Anglia. The victors will rewrite the course of history, and the fate of England is in the hands of the gods of war.

Whispered by the wise and the learned. Talked of in hushed tones round luminous firesides. Engraved by awestruck scribes in the scriptoria of the Chronicles. Against all the odds, great King Alfred defeated a vastly superior Danish army outside Chippenham.

This victory, the sages prophesied, would guarantee peace throughout the land. Or so they thought.

Two years later, Rigr the Bastard, vengeful and seeking to claim his birthright, was defeated in the wilds of East Anglia. His blood smeared berserker warriors vanquished; no quarter asked for - no quarter given.

Now, a further two years later, the Vikings return. Noble Prince Sven instigates a seaborne invasion, fuelled partly by blind rage when he discovers that his brother, Prince Erik, has sworn fealty to the Anglo-Saxon king.

His own brother: A traitor and a fool.

Erik’s love, Lady Gwyneth, attempts to stop the invasion before it starts by uniting the two estranged brothers, but her scheming only succeeds in making matters worse. Indeed, her interference guarantees the death of thousands of warriors in the freezing, tumultuous North Sea.

So when the horns of Sven’s monumental fleet of warships are heard off the fogbound coast of Britannia, King Alfred – outnumbered, outshipped and weary of the fray - must rouse his jaded Saxon warriors and lead them to sea, to repel his most formidable enemy yet.

For a host motivated by the spilled blood of the fallen, the spirit of black vengeance, and the delights of a warrior’s reward in Valhalla, is the most fearsome opponent of all.

Alfred. Sven. Erik. Gwyneth. Amidst the ferrous reverberation of a battle royale - one or all must die, and the fate of a nation hangs in the balance, one final time.

Mary Ann Bernal’s Bio
I fell in love with medieval England after I read Sir Walter Scott's Ivanhoe. Then came the great Hollywood epics such as Knights of the Round Table, Prince Valiant, The Black Shield of Falworth and The Vikings, to name but a few. Add to the mix Camelot and an incurable romantic Anglophile was born!
The Briton and the Dane novels are set in Ninth Century Anglo-Saxon Britain when the formidable Vikings terrorized the civilized world. Wowing this Wednesday with the multi-talented DeEtte Anderton

I have the privledge of Wowing this Wednesday with the multi-talented DeEtte Anderton!!! She is a mother, a grandmother (of too many to count) and editor, an author and oh so much more. Her books are well loved and I know there are more to come. Her book Victory touched me to the core.

Victory is the story of a little girl, and the town where she lives. The town of Victory has a history of patriotism, faith, and friendliness. The little girl, Brown Eyes, orphaned when her missionary parents were killed in a fire, lives with her only known relative who does not want the girl. When The Guest comes to town, the people open their hearts town to him, without knowing who he is or what his motive is. Shortly after his arrival, The Stranger appears, much to the discomfort of The Guest. Slowly, the town loses its freedoms as one of the men takes over little by little. When there is a face to face showdown on the mountain, the life of the child and the future of the town are at stake. Who will have the Victory?
It's Christmas Eve - A blizzard and a paranormal sighting cause an accident on a country road. Sam and Ellen seek refuge at a nearby farmhouse. Their experience with the elderly couple that live there will change their lives forever.

Author Bio
Author and blogger, DeEtte Anderton started writing in 2007 when her son challenged her to get involved in NaNoWriMo. The manuscript sat untouched with several others until January of 2012 when a good friend encouraged her to seek publication. The Christmas Visitors is her first short story, and her current novel, Victory is also her first.

DeEtte spent much of her childhood playing the piano, clarinet, and guitar, reading, and making up stories. She was active in Girl Scouts, which gave her a wide variety of experiences. While in college, she was on the University of Utah Synchronized Swim team, and taught year-round camping and survival skills for Girl Scouts. She has spent many years working with people with disabilities.

Originally from Utah, currently DeEtte lives in New England where she writes full time and works on the editing team of Master Koda Select Publishing. Her other interests include swimming, crocheting, reading, traveling, history, and her grandchildren. In addition, this devoted mother of six and grandmother of twelve (thirteen, come January 2014!) has been a concerned participant in dog rescue services for many years.

Serena Akeroyd's The Naughty Nookie series

Serena Akeroyd has kind of taken over my blog today and I am more than happy to hand it over!!! So here you go... please meet my sexy friend Serena!!

I’d like to say the inspiration from my novels came from dreams. But considering I write erotica, peeps would be wondering what kind of weird ass dreams I have on a night. Either that, or they’d be jealous, want to inspect my diet for minute evidence in search of a way they too could have naughty dreams… But I’m afraid I’ll have to disappoint. Usually, inspiration comes about ten minutes before bedtime. Not so cool, eh?
You’re probably wondering who this crazy person is, well, it isn’t Brenda. She’s kindly let this geek on to her blog, and the person in question is the author of the Naughty Nookie series, Serena Akeroyd. As I type this, I’m waving at you. Promise.
I did actually stop and wave. Good girls don’t tell fibs. ;)
So, the Naughty Nookie series didn’t come to me in a dream, it came to me about five minutes before I drifted away into the Sandman’s arms. And the next morning, when I actually remembered it, I took that as a sign from up high. Sure, the series is erotica, but I like to think of it as much more than that. How about an exploration of a person? The journey that person takes, when she meets the one. Personally, it’s all about love to me. Not about the S-E-X, but as that’s a byproduct of love, to my mind, romance novels need that aspect. What is sex but a physical manifestation of emotions? Okay, yeah, maybe not with every single college student, but when love is involved, what’s the best way to show it?

Can Be Gold was released this Friday and it’s the final part of Mona Barranquet’s story. It deals with all of the issues raised in parts one (Fall Into Love), two (Crazy Little Thing Called Lust) and three (All That Glitters). It tells the tale of a not-so-happy woman, drifting through her life and then, as she meets Zane, it all changes.
So, feminists might not approve of Mona’s requiring a guy to get her back on track, but it isn’t about that. The entire story is about Mona realizing who she is, what she’s capable of and why she deserves to have a guy like Zane – think action hero, drool-worthy demi-God.
She isn’t plain, she isn’t beautiful, she’s average. Like most people on earth. But these four parts are like watching her awaken from her chrysalis. And that’s the only way I can think to describe it. She was a caterpillar, in hibernation and now, she’s a butterfly. Of course, life is never easy and the story reflects it, but still! The sentiment is there.
I’m currently working on the next character to go under the microscope; Mona’s best friend, Marina and I’m loving where I’m at. :D  The Naughty Nookie series is my first self-published work to be on sale and the feedback I’ve had, from reviews and people just contacting me through social networking sites, has been immense. My details are below, so please feel free to connect with me. I do love me a chat!
I will warn you; this series is most definitely NSFW. If you don’t like explicit scenes, then this isn’t for you. But know this, it isn’t sex for sex’s sake. It’s because of love.
And maybe money is what makes the world go round, but wouldn’t it be a much nicer place if love was that pivot.
Thanks for having me, Brenda.

Putting the Raunch in Romance!
Naughty Nookie series on:

Before we say goodbye to the lovely Serena, here is my review for FALL INTO LOVE:
It is easy to Fall Into Love with this sexy and somewhat poetic story. The writing is smart and clever and the story (yes there is a story) is quite arousing. I was lured in from the very first page and my eyes remained glued until the last. This fast paced story was not only intoxicating but at the same time wildly entertaining.

"And while it sickens me to think that I've wasted more time on my ex, it's quite a relief to think that my lack of suitors doesn't stem from unfortunate comparisons to the Cinderella's sitting opposite me. I'm not an ugly stepsister. I'm more like Sleeping Beauty. But I didn't need Prince Charming to wake me up. I can manage that by myself."

Ngaire Elder meets with Brooklyn for Home Wrecker II: The Brooklyn Chronicles

Ngaire Elder made me such an awesome page. The excerpt she used (not even sure it is still in the book) is really as "sexy" as Brooklyn gets. I would not be able to write a "50 Shades of Grey" type story!! I would fumble all over the place!! ;-)

Brenda Perlin Is Back With Home Wrecker 2!

Brenda Perlin is an independent adult contemporary fiction author. Brenda evokes emotional responses in her readers by using a provocatively unique writing style. Her latest book, Home Wrecker II: The Brooklyn Chronicles, captures the soul-wrenching conflicts of a personal struggle for emotional fulfillment.

Author, Brenda Perlin

I spotlighted Brenda's first book in her Home Wrecker series in August this year and I am delighted to have this opportunity to share Home Wrecker II : The Brooklyn Chronicles, published by Master Koda Select Publishingwith you today.

Home Wrecker II: The Brooklyn Chronicles puts the reader on a journey through the eyes of the main character, Brooklyn Rosen.  Her story, at times, is excruciatingly honest and evokes one’s own self-reflection throughout the reading experience.  However, through the devastation and tribulations, the reader will also gain an insight to the inspiring strength of the heroine as she struggles toward personal happiness.

Brooklyn Rosen had high moral principles and was raised properly. Married for over fifteen years, those standards went out the window along with her fidelity when she met Bo. After becoming a self-proclaimed “Home Wrecker” Brooklyn left behind her marital home, along with the damage caused by her emotional wrecking ball. But the whispered remarks followed.

In “Home Wrecker II: The Brooklyn Chronicles” we learn what shaped Brooklyn, the trials of an unhappy marriage and a deep abiding love that would not be denied. We meet a troubled, spiteful wife, who does not want to become an “ex”.

Will Brooklyn and Bo survive, or will all be lost to a bitter woman?
A Story of Love, Betrayal, and a Struggle to Keep New-found Happiness

Excerpt from Home Wrecker II: The Brooklyn Chronicles written by Brenda Perlin :

I melted in his arms as he touched my bare skin for the first time. I was not prepared to feel the sensations that were overwhelming my body. I had gone through too much and never would have imagined feeling this kind of spark at this point in my life. I thought such intense feelings were dead to me. Somehow when I met Bo something awoke inside of me. A fire that was once burnt out was now reignited.

For months we flirted with the idea of being together but that was just a fantasy. I never thought I would have acted on these feelings. Even though I knew what I was doing was not proper because I was married, I couldn’t stop myself from exploring. I was interested and needed to fulfill my curiosity.

I never had these feelings with my husband on whom I was married to for fifteen years. He and I did not connect in that way. We would have been better suited as friends rather than lovers. I just wasn’t willing to admit that to myself . Instead we married and lived a life of compromise. More accurately, I compromised.

What readers are saying about Home Wrecker II: The Brooklyn Chronicles (Amazon):

~    Whatever your viewpoints on separation, cheating and marriage are, Brooklyn's story will force you to reflect upon them in any case - so thoughtful and honest is the writing. And as in life, the story often continues, in our case with Book 3. A very accomplished piece of literature.

~    Brenda Perlin's most recent work, `Home Wrecker II: The Brooklyn Chronicles', is a marvelous read. Full of honest emotion and unsurpassed tales of both difficulties as well as the rewards associated with love. I could relate to every sentence within its pages. I will definitely recommend this book - as well as the complete series - to all my friends.

~    Compelling story of the ending and beginning of relationships as told from the `other woman's' point of view. Poignant reminder that there is often a price for happiness and that sometimes the costs continue to exes refuse to let go ... A must read for anyone who has ever experienced or is considering the ending of a relationship...and isn't that all of us?
